GFBC April club meeting results

Eleven bicyclists had a very enjoyable club meeting last night. We kicked around lots of fun topics including:
1. Warmshowers.org guests John J is expecting Tuesday night. This Irish couple is finishing up a 2-year bicycle tour around the world with a leg across the US. Their fascinating and well written blog can be found by Googling “spokeyokes”.
2. Major progress on the Cochran dam reservoir trail. We are looking for volunteers to help build 2.5 mi of new trail along the North shore of the reservoir between the road and the water. Contact John Juras, Chance Benedict or Edward Henry if you’d like to be included on our volunteer team.
3. It is time to register for the Cascade 66 ride on June 20th. This will be another fun road or gravel ride with no significant changes planned from prior years’ events.
Our Special Olympics ride is scheduled for July 26th. Athletes from Great Falls and Lewistown will meet bike club members for some fun riding around Great Falls. Details to follow.
4. Our first Saturday morning coffee ride is planned for May 2nd. Details TBA soon.
5. Tuesday mountain bike rides are going strong. Meet at the Lewis and Clark overlook at 6:00 p.m.
6. E-moto’s are becoming a problem on the North and South shore trails. If you encounter an e-moto on the trail, take their photo and report it to Montana State Parks Giant Springs office.
7. Bike Walk Montana is again working to pass state e-bike legislation to help better manage e-bikes on Montana’s roads and trails. We are working with opponents and proponents to find language that allows Montana to adopt the national standard Class 1 2 and 3 definition of e-bikes. E-motos are definitely not e-bikes.
